하나님에 대한 더 명확한 이해

 “하늘에서 반역을 선동했던 사탄은, 땅의 주민들을 자기 편으로 끌어모아 하나님을 대적하는 전쟁에 동참하게 하고자 했다. 아담과 하와는 하나님의 율법을 순종하며 온전히 행복해하고 있었는데, 이는 하나님의 율법이 억압적이라는 사탄의 주장이 하늘에서 제기되었을 때 이를 반박하는 끊임없는 증거가 되었다. 사탄은 지구를 차지하고 지극히 높으신 분을 대적하는 자신의 왕국을 세우기 위해, 그들을 타락시키기로 결심했다.” HF 328.1

“그는 그들이 하나님과 같이 되어, 이전보다 더 큰 지혜를 갖게 되고 더 높은 차원의 존재가 될 수 있을 것이라고 선언했다. 이브는 유혹에 굴복하였고, 그녀의 영향으로 아담도 죄에 빠지게 되었다. 그들은 뱀의 말, 즉 하나님이 하신 말씀의 뜻이 실제로는 그렇지 않다는 말을 받아들였다. 그들은 창조주를 불신하고, 하나님이 자신들의 자유를 제한하고 계신다고 생각했으며, 하나님의 법을 어김으로써 큰 지혜와 승영을 얻을 수 있을 것이라고 상상했다.” GC88 532.1

물론 그 열매는 그녀의 마음을 사로잡았지만, 그녀는 하나님의 보좌에 올라 루시퍼 자신도 갈망했던 바로 그 지위에 오를 기회를 얻게 될 것이라는 생각에 유혹을 받았습니다. 루시퍼는 하늘의 천사들과 땅의 사람들이 단지 자신의 명령만 따른다면 자신이 하나님과 같아질 것이라고 진심으로 믿었을 것입니다.

그리하여 우리는 마귀가 자신과 그의 천사들을 속였던 것과 똑같은 근거로 하와를 속였음을 알 수 있다. 유일한 차이점은, 마귀는 자신과 그의 천사들이 먹지 않았던 그 열매를 하와로 하여금 먹게 했다는 점이다. 결과적으로 하와는 음식으로 창조되지 않은 것을 몸속에 받아들임으로써 육체적으로도 죄를 지었고, 그 결과 죽게 되었다. 그러나 사탄과 그의 천사들은 여전히 살아 있다.

“하나님께서 우리 첫 조상들이 갖기를 원치 않으셨던 지식은 바로 죄책감에 대한 인식이었습니다. 그리고 그들이 거짓된 사탄의 주장을 받아들였을 때, 불순종과 범죄가 우리 세상에 들어왔습니다. 하나님의 명백한 명령에 대한 이 불순종, 사탄의 거짓말을 믿은 이 행위는 세상에 재앙의 물꼬를 터놓았습니다. 사탄은 에덴 동산에서 시작한 일을 계속해 왔습니다. 그는 인간이 자신의 주장을 하나님을 반박하는 증거로 받아들이도록 부지런히 활동해 왔습니다. 그는 인간 안에 하나님의 형상을 회복하고 그 영혼에 하나님의 형상을 새기려는 그리스도의 노력에 대항하여 활동해 왔습니다.” 1SM 214.2

“Satan, who had incited rebellion in heaven, desired to bring the inhabitants of the earth to unite in his warfare against God. Adam and Eve had been perfectly happy in obedience to the law of God—a constant testimony against the claim Satan had urged in heaven that God’s law was oppressive. Satan determined to cause their fall, that he might possess the earth and here establish his kingdom in opposition to the Most High.” HF 328.1

“He declared that they would become like God, possessing greater wisdom than before, and being capable of a higher state of existence. Eve yielded to temptation; and through her influence, Adam was led into sin. They accepted the words of the serpent, that God did not mean what he said; they distrusted their Creator, and imagined that he was restricting their liberty, and that they might obtain great wisdom and exaltation by transgressing his law.” GC88 532.1

The fruit, of course, appealed to her, but she was tempted by the idea of having the opportunity to be exalted to the throne of God, to be exalted to the same position to which Lucifer himself aspired. Lucifer must have honestly believed that he would be as God if the angels in Heaven and the men on earth would but take orders from him.

And so we see that the Devil deceived Eve on the same grounds he deceived himself and his angels, the only difference being that he caused Eve to eat of the fruit which he himself and his angels would not eat. Consequently, Eve sinned against her physical being, too, by taking into it something that was not created for food, and consequently she died. But Satan and his angels still live.

“The knowledge which God did not want our first parents to have was a knowledge of guilt. And when they accepted the assertions of Satan, which were false, disobedience and transgression were introduced into our world. This disobedience to God's express command, this belief of Satan's lie, opened the floodgates of woe upon the world. Satan has continued the work begun in the Garden of Eden. He has worked vigilantly, that man might accept his assertions as proof against God. He has worked against Christ in His efforts to restore the image of God in man, and imprint in his soul the similitude of God.” 1SM 214.2

하나님은 사랑이시다

 “‘하나님은 사랑이시라.’ 요한일서 4:16. 그분의 본성과 그분의 법은 사랑입니다. 이는 과거에도 그랬고, 앞으로도 영원히 그러할 것입니다. ‘영원 가운데 거하시는 높고 위엄 있는 분’, 그분의 ‘길은 영원’하시며, 변함이 없으십니다. 그분께는 ‘변함이 없으시며, 돌이키시는 그림자도 없으시니라.’ 이사야 57:15; 하박국 3:6; 야고보서 1:17.” PP 33.1

“창조력의 모든 발현은 무한한 사랑의 표현이다. 하나님의 주권은 모든 피조물에게 풍성한 축복을 포함한다.” PP 33.2

“지구가 해마다 풍요로운 열매를 맺고 태양 주위를 돌며 움직이는 것은 그 자체에 내재된 힘 때문이 아닙니다. 하나님의 손길이 행성들을 인도하시며, 하늘을 가로지르는 질서 정연한 행진 속에서 제자리를 지키게 하십니다. 여름과 겨울, 파종과 수확, 낮과 밤이 규칙적으로 이어지는 것은 오직 그분의 능력 덕분입니다. 초목이 무성하게 자라고, 잎이 돋아나며 꽃이 피는 것은 모두 그분의 말씀 때문입니다. 우리가 가진 모든 좋은 것, 햇살 한 줄기와 비 한 방울, 음식 한 입, 삶의 모든 순간은 사랑의 선물이다.” MB 74.3

“하나님의 자녀란 그분의 본성에 참여하는 자들입니다. 우리가 하나님의 가족의 일원임을 증명하는 것은 세상의 지위도, 출생도, 국적도, 종교적 특권도 아닙니다. 바로 사랑, 온 인류를 포용하는 사랑입니다. 하나님의 성령께 마음을 완전히 닫지 않은 죄인들조차도 친절에는 응답할 것입니다. 비록 그들은 증오에 증오로 갚을지라도, 사랑에는 사랑으로 갚을 것입니다. 그러나 증오에 대해 사랑을 베푸시는 분은 오직 하나님의 성령뿐이시다. 감사하지 않는 자와 악한 자에게 친절을 베풀고, 아무런 대가를 바라지 않고 선을 행하는 것이야말로 하늘 왕권의 표식이며, 지극히 높으신 분의 자녀들이 자신의 높은 지위를 드러내는 확실한 증거이다.” MB 75.2

“선과 악 사이의 거대한 갈등의 역사는, 그것이 하늘에서 처음 시작된 때부터 반역이 최종적으로 진압되고 죄가 완전히 근절될 때까지, 또한 하나님의 변함없는 사랑을 보여주는 증거이기도 하다.” PP 33.4

“그리스도의 선물은 아버지의 마음을 드러냅니다. 이는 하나님께서 우리를 향한 생각이 ‘재앙을 주려는 것이 아니라 평안을 주려는 것’임을 증언합니다(예레미야 29:11). 또한 하나님께서 죄를 미워하시는 마음은 죽음만큼이나 강하지만, 죄인을 향한 그분의 사랑은 죽음보다 더 강하다는 것을 선포합니다. 우리의 구속을 맡으신 그분은 자신의 사역을 완성하는 데 필요한 것이라면, 아무리 소중한 것이라도 아끼지 않으실 것입니다. 우리의 구원에 필수적인 진리는 하나도 숨기지 않으시며, 자비의 기적은 하나도 소홀히 하지 않으시며, 신성한 능력은 하나도 사용되지 않은 채 남겨두지 않으십니다. 은혜가 은혜 위에, 선물이 선물 위에 더해집니다. 하늘의 보물 창고 전체가 그분이 구원하고자 하시는 이들에게 열려 있습니다. 우주의 부를 모으시고 무한한 능력의 자원을 드러내신 그분은 이 모든 것을 그리스도의 손에 맡기시며 말씀하십니다. “이 모든 것은 사람을 위한 것이다. 이 선물들을 사용하여, 땅이나 하늘에 내 사랑보다 더 큰 사랑은 없다는 것을 그에게 확신시켜라. 나를 사랑하는 데서 그의 가장 큰 행복을 찾을 것이다.” DA 57.1

“갈보리의 십자가 앞에서 사랑과 이기심이 정면으로 맞섰다. 이곳에서 그 두 가지가 가장 극명하게 드러났다. 그리스도는 오직 위로하고 축복하기 위해 사셨으나, 사탄은 그분을 죽임으로써 하나님에 대한 자신의 악랄한 증오를 드러냈다. 그는 자신의 반역의 진정한 목적이 하나님을 왕좌에서 몰아내고, 하나님의 사랑을 드러내신 그분을 멸망시키는 데 있음을 분명히 보여주었다.” DA 57.2

“때가 차매 하늘의 창문이 열리고, 세상에 하늘의 은혜가 홍수처럼 쏟아져 내렸습니다. 하나님께서는 우리 세상에 독생자라는 놀라운 선물을 주셨습니다. 이 행적을 고려할 때, 다른 세계의 주민들은 하나님께서 인류의 자녀들에게 사랑을 나타내기 위해 이보다 더 많은 일을 하실 수 있었다고 결코 말할 수 없을 것입니다. 그분은 어떤 계산으로도 헤아릴 수 없는 희생을 치르셨습니다. 타락한 인류를 구원하기 위해 그분은 하늘의 모든 보화를 한 번의 선물로 쏟아 부으셨습니다.” RH 1907년 1월 3일, 11항

“‘God is love.’ 1 John 4:16. His nature, His law, is love. It ever has been; it ever will be. ‘The high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity,’ whose ‘ways are everlasting,’ changeth not. With Him ‘is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.’ Isaiah 57:15; Habakkuk 3:6; James 1:17. PP 33.1

“Every manifestation of creative power is an expression of infinite love. The sovereignty of God involves fullness of blessing to all created beings.” PP 33.2

“It is not because of inherent power that year by year the earth produces her bounties and continues her motion round the sun. The hand of God guides the planets and keeps them in position in their orderly march through the heavens. It is through His power that summer and winter, seedtime and harvest, day and night follow each other in their regular succession. It is by His word that vegetation flourishes, that the leaves appear and the flowers bloom. Every good thing we have, each ray of sunshine and shower of rain, every morsel of food, every moment of life, is a gift of love.” MB 74.3

“The children of God are those who are partakers of His nature. It is not earthly rank, nor birth, nor nationality, nor religious privilege, which proves that we are members of the family of God; it is love, a love that embraces all humanity. Even sinners whose hearts are not utterly closed to God's Spirit, will respond to kindness; while they may give hate for hate, they will also give love for love. But it is only the Spirit of God that gives love for hatred. To be kind to the unthankful and to the evil, to do good hoping for nothing again, is the insignia of the royalty of heaven, the sure token by which the children of the Highest reveal their high estate.” MB 75.2

“The history of the great conflict between good and evil, from the time it first began in heaven to the final overthrow of rebellion and the total eradication of sin, is also a demonstration of God's unchanging love.” PP 33.4

“The gift of Christ reveals the Father’s heart. It testifies that the thoughts of God toward us are “thoughts of peace, and not of evil.” Jeremiah 29:11. It declares that while God’s hatred of sin is as strong as death, His love for the sinner is stronger than death. Having undertaken our redemption, He will spare nothing, however dear, which is necessary to the completion of His work. No truth essential to our salvation is withheld, no miracle of mercy is neglected, no divine agency is left unemployed. Favor is heaped upon favor, gift upon gift. The whole treasury of heaven is open to those He seeks to save. Having collected the riches of the universe, and laid open the resources of infinite power, He gives them all into the hands of Christ, and says, All these are for man. Use these gifts to convince him that there is no love greater than Mine in earth or heaven. His greatest happiness will be found in loving Me. DA 57.1

“At the cross of Calvary, love and selfishness stood face to face. Here was their crowning manifestation. Christ had lived only to comfort and bless, and in putting Him to death, Satan manifested the malignity of his hatred against God. He made it evident that the real purpose of his rebellion was to dethrone God, and to destroy Him through whom the love of God was shown.” DA 57.2

“When the fulness of time came, the windows of heaven were opened, and upon the world was poured a flood of heavenly grace. God made to our world the wonderful gift of his only begotten Son. In the light of this act, it could never be said by the inhabitants of other worlds that God could have done more than he did to show his love for the children of men. He made a sacrifice that defies all computation. To save a fallen race he poured forth the whole treasure of heaven in one gift.” RH January 3, 1907, par. 11

창조 속의 하나님

“아버지와 아들은 그들이 구상했던 위대하고 경이로운 일, 즉 세상을 창조하는 일에 착수하셨다. 창조주의 손에서 나온 땅은 지극히 아름다웠다. 산과 언덕, 평야가 있었고, 그 사이사이에 강과 호수가 자리 잡고 있었다. 지구는 한없이 넓은 평야가 아니었으나, 풍경의 단조로움은 언덕과 산들로 인해 깨어졌는데, 그것들은 지금처럼 높고 험준한 것이 아니라 모양이 규칙적이고 아름다웠다. 헐벗고 높은 바위들은 그 위에서는 결코 보이지 않았으며, 지표면 아래에 자리하여 마치 뼈가 땅을 지탱하듯 지구를 지탱하고 있었다. 물은 규칙적으로 흩어져 있었다. 언덕과 산, 그리고 매우 아름다운 평원들은 식물과 꽃, 그리고 온갖 종류의 크고 위엄 있는 나무들로 장식되어 있었는데, 이 나무들은 오늘날의 나무들보다 몇 배나 더 크고 훨씬 더 아름다웠다. 공기는 맑고 건강했으며, 지구는 마치 고귀한 궁전처럼 보였다. 천사들은 하나님의 놀랍고 아름다운 창조물을 바라보며 기뻐했다.” LHU 47.2

“땅과 그 위에 사는 짐승들이 창조된 후, 아버지와 아들은 사탄이 타락하기 전부터 계획해 두었던, 자기들의 형상대로 사람을 창조하겠다는 뜻을 이루셨다. 그들은 땅과 그 위에 사는 모든 생물을 창조하는 데 함께 힘쓰셨다. 그리고 이제 하나님은 아들에게 말씀하셨다. ‘우리의 형상대로 사람을 만들자.’” 창조주의 손에서 아담이 나오자, 그는 웅장한 키와 아름다운 균형미를 갖추고 있었다. 그는 현재 지상에 사는 사람들보다 키가 두 배 이상 컸으며, 몸매도 균형 잡혀 있었다. 그의 용모는 완벽하고 아름다웠다.... 하와는 아담만큼 키가 크지는 않았다. 그녀의 머리는 아담의 어깨보다 조금 더 높았다. 그녀 또한 웅장하고, 균형이 완벽하며, 매우 아름다웠다.” LHU 47.3

“The Father and the Son engaged in the mighty, wondrous work they had contemplated—of creating the world. The earth came forth from the hand of the Creator exceedingly beautiful. There were mountains and hills and plains; and interspersed among them were rivers and bodies of water. The earth was not one extensive plain, but the monotony of the scenery was broken by hills and mountains, not high and ragged as they now are, but regular and beautiful in shape. The bare, high rocks were never seen upon them, but lay beneath the surface, answering as bones to the earth. The waters were regularly dispersed. The hills, mountains, and very beautiful plains were adorned with plants and flowers, and tall, majestic trees of every description, which were many times larger and much more beautiful than trees now are. The air was pure and healthful, and the earth seemed like a noble palace. Angels beheld and rejoiced at the wonderful and beautiful works of God. LHU 47.2

“After the earth was created, and the beasts upon it, the Father and Son carried out their purpose, which was designed before the fall of Satan, to make man in their own image. They had wrought together in the creation of the earth and every living thing upon it. And now God said to His Son, “Let us make man in our image.” As Adam came forth from the hand of his Creator he was of noble height and of beautiful symmetry. He was more than twice as tall as men now living upon the earth, and was well proportioned. His features were perfect and beautiful.... Eve was not quite as tall as Adam. Her head reached a little above his shoulders. She, too, was noble, perfect in symmetry, and very beautiful.” LHU 47.3

더 깊이 생각해 보기

 “구주께서는 힘차고 희망찬 말씀으로 가르침을 마치셨다. 그러고는 제자들을 위해 기도하며 마음속 깊은 간구를 쏟아내셨다. 하늘을 우러러보시며 말씀하셨다. ‘아버지여, 때가 이르렀사오니, 아들을 영화롭게 하사 아들도 아버지를 영화롭게 하게 하소서. 아버지께서 아들에게 모든 육체에 대한 권세를 주셨으니, 아버지께서 아들에게 주신 모든 사람에게 영생을 주게 하려 하심이라. 이것이 영생이니, 곧 유일한 참 하나님이신 아버지와 아버지께서 보내신 예수 그리스도를 아는 것이니라.’” DA 680.2

“그리스도께서는 자신에게 맡겨진 사명을 다 이루셨습니다. 그분은 이 땅에서 하나님을 영화롭게 하셨고, 아버지의 이름을 드러내셨습니다. 또한 사람들 가운데서 자신의 사역을 이어갈 자들을 모아 두셨습니다. 그리고 그분은 말씀하셨습니다. ‘나는 그들 안에서 영광을 얻었습니다. 이제 나는 세상에 더 이상 있지 않으나, 이들은 세상에 남아 있습니다. 내가 아버지께로 가나이다. 거룩하신 아버지여, 아버지께서 내게 주신 자들을 아버지의 이름으로 지키사, 우리와 같이 그들이 하나가 되게 하소서.’ ‘내가 이 사람들만을 위하여 구하는 것이 아니요, 그들의 말을 통해 나를 믿게 될 자들을 위하여도 구하노니, 그들 모두가 하나가 되게 하소서. … 내가 그들 안에 있고, 주께서 내 안에 계시니, 그들이 하나 안에서 온전하게 되게 하소서. 그리하여 세상이 주께서 나를 보내셨음을 알고, 주께서 나를 사랑하신 것 같이 그들을 사랑하셨음을 알게 하소서.’” DA 680.3

“이처럼 신성한 권위를 지닌 분의 언어로, 그리스도께서는 선택받은 교회를 아버지의 품에 맡기십니다. 성별된 대제사장으로서 그분은 백성을 위해 중보하십니다. 신실한 목자로서 그분은 전능자의 그늘 아래, 견고하고 확실한 피난처로 양 떼를 모으십니다. 그분을 위해 사탄과의 마지막 전투가 기다리고 있으며, 그분은 이를 맞이하기 위해 나아가십니다.” DA 680.4

“With strong, hopeful words the Saviour ended His instruction. Then He poured out the burden of His soul in prayer for His disciples. Lifting His eyes to heaven, He said, “Father, the hour is come; glorify Thy Son, that Thy Son also may glorify Thee: as Thou hast given Him power over all flesh, that He should give eternal life to as many as Thou hast given Him. And this is life eternal, that they might know Thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom Thou hast sent.” DA 680.2

“Christ had finished the work that was given Him to do. He had glorified God on the earth. He had manifested the Father’s name. He had gathered out those who were to continue His work among men. And He said, “I am glorified in them. And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to Thee. Holy Father, keep through Thine own name those whom Thou hast given Me, that they may be one, as We are.” “Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on Me through their word; that they all may be one; ... I in them, and Thou in Me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that Thou hast sent Me, and hast loved them, as Thou hast loved Me.” DA 680.3

“Thus in the language of one who has divine authority, Christ gives His elect church into the Father’s arms. As a consecrated high priest He intercedes for His people. As a faithful shepherd He gathers His flock under the shadow of the Almighty, in the strong and sure refuge. For Him there waits the last battle with Satan, and He goes forth to meet it.” DA 680.4
